With WELDBOND it’s easy! First, seal surface using a mixture of 1 part WELDBOND 5 parts water. Let dry 1 hour. Apply a coat of concentrated WELDBOND. Allow surfaces to become tacky before bringing together, apply 1 min. When bonding glass, use sparingly if you
require crystal-clear bond. Lightly clamp or tape material in position until fully cured (min.24 hours or more depending on room temperature and humidity). Any whiteness indicates the curing process is not complete. A crystal clear dry can take up to 30 days.
For faster clear drying: (1) Seal all pieces of glass with the mixture (5 parts water to 1 part WELDBOND). For larger pieces seal only the side that you wish to adhere to. Let dry approx. 1 hour. (Small mosaic glass pieces can be sealed all at once by dipping a strainer
full of glass pieces into the sealing mixture. Separate and dry pieces on wax paper). (2) Use the glue full strength only around the outside edges or the perimeter of each glass piece to be bonded. (Do not coat the middle or center of the glass) This allows the air to evaporate water from the adhesive, needed to turn WELDBOND crystal clear.
The quickest “clear” dry method... Great for vertical surfaces / or fast hold.
Also use this method to prevent pieces sliding on vertical surfaces. Seal the two surfaces with the 5:1 sealing mixture. Allow to dry. Completely coat both sealed surfaces lightly with concentrated .
Keep separate and allow to dry clear. Now reactivate
WELDBOND by wiping or brushing on Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and bring pieces together immediately (rub back and forth over one another with pressure if possible, while positioning). This should dry clear in a few hours. Before doing your projects, do test pieces first, to make sure you are getting the strength you desire. |
