About tiles: WELDBOND is exceptional in creating mosaic tile projects, or for tiling walls, floors, and countertops. WELDBOND offers the cleanest, easiest method to adhere almost any kind of tile to almost any kind of surface. Great for ceramic, porcelain, granite, marble, clay (or Mexican), quartz, slate, glass, stone or composite materials like Corian®. Tiles can be laid on flat or uneven surfaces (for uneven, refer to “General Adhesive Mix”). WELDBOND offers an incredibly strong bond and allows much more positioning time.
Directions: All surfaces should be clean and dry. First, prime all porous surfaces you’re working with, using the sealing mixture – 5 parts water to 1 part WELDBOND. Allow to dry 1hr. Then coat tiles with concentrated WELDBOND and place in position. Use tape to hold in
place for minimum of 1 hr.WELDBOND will allow up to 15 min. positioning time. Allow to dry 24 hrs. prior to grouting.
For faster bonding or working on vertical surfaces: To prevent tiles from sliding around, try this method: Seal porous surface with 5 parts water to 1 part mixture. Allow to dry 1 hr. Then coat both surfaces generously with WELDBOND, full strength
…. allow to dry until WELDBOND is completely clear. Now reactivate (using Isopropyl/rubbing alcohol) by brushing it on both surfaces. Then bring both surfaces together and into position with slight turning motion and pressure if possible. Bond should
be near instant but use tape to hold in place for at least 1 hr. This method will also dry crystal clear much faster (great for glasswork). Test this method first to ensure you are getting the bond strength required for your project before starting.
As a general adhesive mix: For bonding any rough, uneven surface, mix together 1 part , 1 part water and 4 to 5 parts filler (plaster, tile grout, mortar mix, sand-cement mix). Apply to uneven surface and begin tiling. This adhesive mix will dry faster than justconcentrated Weldbond. |
